Plot: Diseases and love are a dangerous mix at the cinema – and a happy taken. Ever since Arthur Hiller’s Love Story (1970) we know that the combination of feel exuberance and physical fragility too happy seduced to throw the really great feeling machinery, if languished on the canvas to minor-laden violins, suffered and died. Nevertheless, the substance of which are the really big romantic melodramas, just do not become an integral part of the big screen and the reactions at the Berlinale as well as at other festivals to Felix van GroeningensThe Broken Circle speak volumes how big the seductive power of such pathological to lethal love dramas is. In this respect fits Steph Green’s Irish-German co-production Wholeheartedly and in the middle (in the original is, the film somewhat aptly Run & Jump ) outstanding in the series thematically similar films – even if the work on closer inspection but then differs significantly from its predecessors.
