It was one of the revelations of the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 , the Directors’ Fortnight having dared select the first American feature film , both charming and bloody , dark tale of revenge and survival. Much before its main character, a lunar traumatized who lives apart from the world , like a bum , seemingly harmless and an amorphous anything, vigilant movie does not bother. Watch Blue Ruin movie and enjoy the thriller one.

The principle of the scenario is simple: remove the vulnerable character of its near- vegetative state, by confronting the unbearable and forcing him to take action and get back in contact with the world. But the man is ready to revive without killing the guilty, his memory as the surface of the earth? The dating scene between the two men in the bathroom of a bar, the tone of the rest of the film: it is his own family or that of another.

Throughout the film there is a question: so what the blue ruin the title? Is it the blue car in a wreck in which the antihero sleeping? Or is it the character itself, a sort of ghost wandering in a world that is no longer hers, lugging his discomfort, without realizing the consequences of his actions. Few shots of firearms, crossbows games, through painful falls stairs, we suffer for this amateur killer, who has little chance to go it alone.

Because the main focus of the film, its deliciously twisted scenario, if he insists on the human desire to see an end to a downward spiral of eye for eye, tooth for tooth, likes to embark on the adventure of potential innocent victims , as the sister , her children , or a friend , a former soldier, using it as some engine turning situations . The director himself, playing with our nerves, operating perfectly certain places, like the house of the sister and that of the enemy clan, sparing his angles to surprise. Between fear and fun, between compassion and terror, the viewer is embedded in the turmoil of seemingly end, alongside that without which “Blue Ruin” is a very different movie: actor Macon Blair, cumulating in an intriguing mixture, an innocent look, a protective attitude flawless and easily channeled savagery.
