Watch Broken City movie, a thriller movie. After the surprise of seeing the gifted Allen Hughes make a film without his twin brother Albert , what should we expect from the “Broken City” redolent politicized polar rough seventies ? A city characterized as the central protagonist of a tortuous plot, a sense of paranoia is amplified during the narration, a main character constantly on the go , dry and realistic action sequences, these are elements found in this thriller worn by Mark Wahlberg as inspired as in the excellent ” Fighter” or the sublime ” the Lovely Bones ” . An underestimated , and finds here its luster in a much more complex than it looks role player too .
Sharp scanner of social alienation present at all times and in all strata of society, Allen Hughes manages to appropriate codes of urban thriller, transforming New York City into a dangerous entity thirsty corruption. It is in these moments that are strongly reminiscent of the ” The Brave ” by Neil Jordan , the film approaches the classics , as well as a direction of actors cord from which emerges the ever talented Barry Pepper, whose character gives itself the flavor of a plot unfortunately unoriginal , especially in light of agreed terribly topic.
But regardless, finally , that “Broken City” is not a worthy successor to previous films Hughes ( the absence of her brother she would explain this fact ? You can ask … ) , her paintings an America plagued by money and power, it gives as much to do to think. Maybe not a great movie, but a good … and that’s a lot !
