She is dedicated to finding the Philosopher’s Stone that Flamel, in addition to turn base metals into gold, makes eternal life. She wants to pursue the dream of his father who killed himself and prove to his critics that he was not mentally ill. This is the actress who plays Perdita Weeks role. Her character holds several doctorates and even a black belt in karate. She is a genius and seems to solve the puzzles with astonishing rapidity. She will discover that this stone is hidden beneath the streets of Paris, in the Catacombs. In her quest, she will be assisted by her former boyfriend, George also archaeologist who has knowledge of the ancient language, Aramaic and Benji a claustrophobic documentary. The trio will recruit a team of urban explorers named the cataphiles. This team consists of Papillon, his girlfriend Souxie and Fez, an agile climber who does not talk much. AS ABOVE, SO BELOW is a horror “found-footage” psychological flavor to the film. To me, this feature film is a psychological thriller than a horror movie, because the moments of “horror” are limited or predictable. There are of course some scenes of tension, but these are foreseeable. From the very first scene, you’ll notice that the camera shake and it did not improve when the group enters the Catacombs. They are installed on their forehead constantly moving when something exciting should happen cameras. The film takes its time to get interesting and is marked by a disappointing ending. The production team received permission to shoot in the Catacombs, which nevertheless gives an authenticity to the film. All the scenes that take place in the catacombs were actually filmed at this location.
