Plot: Lucy is the name given to the almost complete fossilized hominid skeleton discovered by Donald Johanson in 1974 in Ethiopia. As the oldest discovered to date bipedal hominid, he is regarded as “the mother of mankind.” Luc Besson, capable of the best and worst in his career as a director, in his last film dares to bring this hominid Lucy, the protagonist of the title of this movie and that is able to develop accidentally 100% their brain power.

The French director uses myth that humans only use 10% of their brainpower. Leveraging the hypothetical case of what would happen if 90% of the remaining capacity, Luc Besson constructed a superhero that goes between your popular were used Nikita, Hard to Kill and Neo from The Matrix. That is, someone capable of feeling its surroundings, to alter it at will, using telekinesis to control others, etc. Lucy, played by Scarlett Johansson, is an ordinary girl who becomes embroiled in a murky matter related to the creation of a new drug developed by a kind of Korean mafia. Accidentally ingested a massive amount of this drug, which promotes develop progressively their intellectual capacity up to 100% hypothetically mental development of human beings. After acquiring this capability, Lucy understands the enormous power that has been given, but also the responsibility that entails, and decide to put their skills to the service of science. Put like that, the peculiar story set in Lucy , more like the plot of a B movie, however, the show is most entertaining and unsustainable matters little story that has more than thriller action sci alleged fiction.

Besson manages to get the best out of his usual collaborators, Eric Sierra and Thierry Arbogast and keeps a steady hand for half an hour without getting bored at any time. It helps a lot to this fun and inspiring aseptic Scarlett Johansson, stoically bearing close-ups of that Besson shows her sexy side. The-tight $ 40 million it cost the film surprised, especially given the high level of action sequences and the more laudable visual effects. However, apart from pure entertainment is in Lucy , Luc Besson attempts to achieve a transcendence that comes from forced, stilted manner and fails to flow normally to the servitude imposed by commercial spectacle that Lucy should.
