Watch a separation movie, this is a drama movie. Who would have thought that an Iranian film with as central theme the history of the separation of a couple become the favorite of the press as spectators at the Berlin Festival in 2011? It was paying no attention to the fact that the director of this contemporary history, where morality confronts religion, was also the author of “About Elly ” price staged in Berlin in 2009 : Asghar Farhadi .
The film begins with a hearing, the woman seeking divorce to obtain custody of his daughter when she wants to leave to work abroad and that her husband does not want to accompany him. And apart from the scenes in the house of the father in the first part, “A Separation ” hardly leaves the court in its second part. By focusing on this place, the director will highlight human contradictions that justice inspires a demand for equity, against the richest, those who have everything, demand respect regardless of its location and hope of mourning, an unfortunate event. Outside, money, religion, feelings come and cover their tracks to each Indenture.
The exciting scenario Asghar Farhadi reflects humanity in all its complexity. Complexity of gender relations, unspoken, expectations with respect to one another, suffering the girl caught between the two impossible choices, the ins and outs of a relationship are all modern couple then treated with incredible accuracy. The film is left Berlin with a collective interpretation actor’s price, one for actresses, but also with a well deserved Golden Bear. The sign that despite the imprisonment of Jafar Panahi , Iranian cinema has a bright future ahead of him .
