Adapted from a novel by Niccolò Ammaniti , ” Watch Me and You movie” addresses the excesses of adolescence in a very odd angle : almost artificial relationship between two children from a blended family . In their eyes, they are not brother and sister, but the children of their stepmother.
Each bears the scars of conflict relations and considers the other as a potential enemy. It will take this forced cohabitation of a few days; they discover that their unhappiness is a common denominator, the absence of the father. Their relationship then changes between love and friendship, as if they had just met.
Although the film suffers from a setting somewhat classical music, “Me and you “ fully mastered his subject. Well crafted script knows no downtime and actors, both novices in the field, stick perfectly to the characters they portray.
The film even shows beautiful scenes, as this dance on the Italian version of “Space Oddity” by Bowie reinvented himself under the evocative title “Ragazzo solo, ragazza sola “. The result is a rather touching story of teenagers who, like Bertolucci, absent from screens for over ten years for health reasons, have put their lives in brackets to build back better.
